  • Positive Pants

There are many political situations unfolding in the world today, and it’s easy to get bogged down by the daily dramas and news-induced stress. This is just a gentle reminder to also focus on the good.

I’m incredibly thankful for my family and friends. We may not always see eye to eye, but we understand that differing points of view don’t signal the end of a relationship—they mark the beginning of a new conversation, not a confrontation.

Remember kindness is free, and yet it’s one of the most powerful gifts we can offer one another. It should never be taken for granted. I truly believe that love wins in the end—when we allow it to strengthen our relationships and soften our differences.

I pray that everyone has the opportunity to discover this for themselves.

    Truly yours,
    Megan RC-F

  • Hobby Lobby

To whoever created Hobby Lobby — you are a genius.

Today, my neighbor and I set out to grab a few simple items to help us with some tasks we had planned. Nothing major — or so we thought. But, as it usually goes, we left with far more than we intended. (Hi, I’m the problem. It’s me.)

The beauty of this store is that it truly is a one-stop shop. For busy people, that kind of efficiency is gold. Instead of running around town to multiple stores, we found everything we needed in one place — and more. On top of that, the customer service was top-notch. Staff were helpful, fast, and knew exactly where things were, which made the experience even smoother.

By the time we got home, I was bursting with inspiration. I finally created a “calm toolkit” — something I’ve been meaning to do for a while. It includes a weighted blanket, a soft light-up squish toy, a magnetic fidget toy, a worry stone, and a few other grounding tools to help me stay in the moment.

And because I apparently thrive on multitasking, I also started a crochet project: a shawl for Brookelin’s wedding… which is in less than two weeks! So now I’m racing against the clock to complete rows and rows of stitches, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

So, to sum it all up:
Thank you, Hobby Lobby, for fueling my creativity, helping me tackle long-standing goals, and giving me more projects than I know what to do with. I’ll be back next year — because honestly, I can’t keep up with everything I want to try.

  • Simple Testimony of Faith

I believe it’s important to have a testimony—something personal, something true—something that can be shared with the world.

    Today, mine is simple.

I believe in one God, who reveals Himself in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. He is kind, loving, and completely trustworthy. He is present whether we recognize Him or not—near to us in moments of joy, sorrow, confusion, and stillness.

When I pray, I know He hears me. Not because I always have the right words, but because He always has the right heart—a heart turned toward His children.

    “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee;
and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee,
and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.”
    Jeremiah 1:5 (KJV)

“He shall feed His flock like a shepherd:
He shall gather the lambs with His arm,
and carry them in His bosom,
and shall gently lead those that are with young.”
    Isaiah 40:11 (KJV)

Let us not forget Him on our best days—for we need Him just as desperately then as we do on our worst. When we soften our hearts to Him, we will begin to notice His comfort in quiet places. We will feel His love, even in the smallest of victories, and His peace, even in the midst of unknowns.

His presence is steady. His love, unshakable. And His arms are always open.

    Love Truly Yours,
    Megan RC-F

  • Great Grandma Turners Bread

    1 cup milk

    1/4 cup shortening

    1/4 cup sugar

    Yeast

    Water

    Flour

    Salt

This recipe is all about feel. Adding what is needed but nothing more.

Once all the ingredients are put together and you are ready to bake. Again it is feel. I would try 350 for 15 minutes and just see how it is doing. Try the toothpick test until done.

  • Home

    Hi!
I am Megan Renee. As you can see above this is the start of my ancestry adventures with a twist. I have to start with my own Mom and Dad. They were married on December 18, 1976, in the town of Dayton, WA. (Hint, my mom was 20 at that time and my dad was 18!) They had two daughters, Dana Marie and Me. My Mom and Dad were extremely motivated to provide a stable safe loving home for us, and they succeeded in my opinion.

Today, I want to talk a little about home. It is defined as a place where people or animals live and are cared for by other people (family, non-relation, or owners).

My first home was a log cabin on the South Touchet in Dayton WA built in 1983. My mom was actually pregnant with Dana when they were peeling those logs for the home. It was built on a 10-acre lot that was originally deeded to Grandpa Russell (seen above in chart). They used a metal roof, decking across the front of the house, a large, covered carport, shop with heat, barn, and fenced pasture area. The main floor was an open floor plan from the kitchen, dining area, and living room. There are 2 bedrooms and 1.5 baths with a loft. It also had a wood stove in the basement and a propane stove on the main floor of the home.

This home is so special to me not only because of the safety from the weather it provided but all the memories I have stored up there. It is where I grew up. I learned to walk on those floors and endured my first crushes in that household. Dana and I played on those hills, and where we expressed our grief when our pets passed and then were buried. I learned to write on those walls, which I imagine my MMMMMMs are still next to the front door (oops giving me a pen). My absolute favorite memories though were winter days warming my feet next to the stove and falling asleep safe and warm. At this home the cement of the carport and the cement of the barn are my handprints along with my parents and sister. I raised sheep in that red barn and practiced for hours how to show them. Nothing can alter the echos of beautiful memories we built in those walls.

    Dayton, WA Log Home

So, what happened? Why are we not there anymore? Well, my Dad took on the career of farming, and we moved so that we were closer to the land we worked. This is when they built the brick home in Waitsburg, WA.

The new home is on a 1.5 Acre Lot. It is meant to be the home that we, as a family, can grow old in. Hosting all our new and future memories. Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, hosting family and friends. Love and laughter are in abundance with lots of food and games. It features a 2-bedroom 2-bathroom, with open concept from kitchen dining, to living room, and a 2-car closed garage. It also has a shop and a small caregiver apartment on the other side of the garage.

The resilience that my parents have shown me over the years has been nothing short of amazing. Building one home in a lifetime is a challenge by itself and they have made it through TWO! They have overcome obstacles and challenges, seen and unforeseen, and have still been able to maintain a home that we all know and love.

So, for the end of the post today, I want to give a shout out to my parents. Through all the thick and thin, good and bad, health and illness, you have and always will be heroes in my eyes because you built and maintained a home that not only I could count on, but the generations after us.
    Love Yours Truly,
    Megan RC-F
